Among the top projects to kick off in the quarter is Indeck Energy Services Incorporated's (Buffalo Grove, Illinois) natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant in Niles, Michigan. The facility will have a generating capacity 1,076 megawatts (MW). AECOM Corporation (NYSE:ACM) (Los Angeles, California) is performing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC). The project is set for completion in the first quarter of 2020 and has an estimated total investment value (TIV) of $1 billion. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

The automotive sector is big business in the Great Lakes region, and Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) (Dearborn, Michigan) is maintaining its momentum by kicking off construction on an expansion of its automotive assembly plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. The plant will be for the latest in vehicle design, as it is intended for electric vehicles and fully autonomous hybrid vehicles designed with ride-sharing companies in mind. The project has an estimated TIV of $700 million and is planned for completion before the end of 2019. Rudolph/Libbe Incorporated (Walbridge, Ohio) is acting as construction manager. Project Completions
More than $21.7 billion of projects are set to be completed in the Great Lakes this quarter. Among the top completions is another project from Ford. The company is nearing completion of a production line addition at its transmission manufacturing plant in Livonia, Michigan. The project consists of constructing three new transmission production lines and supporting equipment to manufacture the 10-speed transmission used in Ford's Raptor and F-150 trucks. Construction began in late 2015 and should be completed by the end of this year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Several natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plants also are planned for completion before yearend, adding substantially to the region's value for project completions. Among these is Carroll County Energy LLC's (Carrollton, Ohio) 700-MW Carroll County Energy Center in Carrollton. Construction on the project began in the summer of 2015 and is expected to be wrapped up in December. Bechtel Group Incorporated (San Francisco, California) is performing EPC work on the project, which has an estimated TIV of $800 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Also on the books for completion is Indianapolis Power & Light Company's (IPL) (Indianapolis, Indiana) 671-MW Eagle Valley Energy Center in Martinsville, Indiana.
