Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--North China Power Engineering Company Limited (NCPE) (Beijing), a subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consultancy Corporation (CPECC) (Beijing), received the notice of bid award issued by Huadian Tendering Company Limited (Beijing) following its engineering bid for China Huadian Corporation's (Beijing) Tianjin Nanjiang Thermal Power Plant Phase II expansion.

The Huadian Tianjin Nanjiang Thermal Power Plant is located in Binhai New District of northern China's Tianjin City. The power plant has two 350-megawatt (MW), coal-fired, supercritical steam turbine generating units under construction. Construction of Phase I kicked off in July 2011, and both units in Phase I are expected to begin operations in the first half of 2013.

The Phase II expansion project is planned to have one set of combined-cycle units comprised of two 9F-class, gas-fired combustion turbines and one steam turbine generator based on heat-recovery steam generating (HRSG) technology, with a total investment of about $525 million. The project is to be invested and operated by Tianjin Huadian Nanjiang Thermal Power Company Limited (THNTPC) (Tanggu, Tianjin), a joint venture of Huadian Power International Corporation Limited (Beijing) (50%), the listed flagship of China Huadian Corporation; Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry Group Company Limited (Tianjin) (25%); and Tianjin Changlu Haijing Group Company Limited (Tianjin) (25%).

Presently, THNTPC is working closely with Huadian Tendering for the procurement of main equipment for the project. (An invitation for bids on supply of main equipment was issued in December 2012). According to the schedule, the project is expected to kick off construction in late 2013, and both units will be put into operation by the end of November 2014.
