Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Hybrid Technology A.S. (Halden, Norway), a relatively small, energy-centered company founded by like-minded investors, is planning to build two grassroot windfarms with other Norwegian companies. The company offers project solutions in a variety of renewable energy variants, including wind power, solar power and bio-power. Although it is currently focused on working with local Scandinavian investors, it plans to expand future ventures into the European Union.
In 2014, Hybrid Technology, along with Vestavind Kraft A.S. (Bergen, Norway), will begin the construction of Faurefjellet Vindkraftverk on Faure Mountain, 12 kilometers north of Bjerkreim, Norway. Hybrid Technology and Vestavind plan to construct and install 29 pylons of 3.1 megawatts (MW) each, for a total farm capacity of 90 MW. The US$225 million Faurefjellet Vindkraftverk, when complete later in 2014, is anticipated to produce 200 gigawatt-hours annually and provide power to about 10,000 homes.
Also in 2014, the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (Oslo, Norway) will join Hybrid Technology to construct a windfarm 7 kilometers southwest of Haegebostad, Norway, some 250 kilometers southwest of Oslo. The US$700 million Blaberg Vindkraftverk will be comprised of 100 pylons of 3 MW each, and is scheduled for completion during the second quarter of 2015. When completed, Blaberg Vindkraftverk will have a production capacity of 300 MW to be incorporated into the local grid.
