PRODUCTION
U.S. Oil Rig Count Increases - The number of rigs drilling for oil in the U.S. jumped by 10 for the week ending May 11 to 844. Five rigs were added in the Permian, which now has 463 active rigs. (Fuel Fix)
PIPELINES
EPIC Midstream Forms Partnerships for Texas Pipeline - EPIC Midstream Holdings LP said on Thursday it formed strategic partnerships with Apache Corporation (NYSE:APA) and Noble Energy (NYSE:NBL) for its Texas pipeline, which is expected to be in service in the second half of 2019. The EPIC Crude Oil Pipeline will run beside the company's natural gas liquids pipelines for 730 miles from southeastern New Mexico to Corpus Christi, Texas. LNG
Iran Sanctions Could Give U.S. LNG Producers a Leg Up - This Bloomberg article explores how with the move to curb Iran's oil output encouraging more shale drilling, prices for natural gas produced alongside crude in West Texas could crater, falling to zero some days, according to Tudor Pickering Holt & Company. Already, the gas sold at West Texas' Waha hub is down 51% for the year. That's bad for producers selling the fuel in the U.S., but good for companies that export it. As the market for liquefied natural gas (LNG) grows in Asia, being able to source gas at its cheapest should give U.S. exports a leg up. (Bloomberg)
POWER
California to Require Solar Panels on New Homes - Builders in California will be required to fit solar panels on most new homes from 2020 under a new rule adopted on Wednesday, the first of its kind in the United States. (Reuters)
