Overhaul Scheduled for ConocoPhillips Refinery in Ireland

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) (Houston, Texas) has scheduled a maintenance turnaround at the 75,000 barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Whitegate Refinery in Cork, Ireland. The turnaround is scheduled for September 2009 and will entail mainly cleaning and inspection work. The turnaround will involve the crude, isomerization, CCR, diesel hydrotreater, SRU, gasoline hydrotreater, debutanizer, kerosene hydrotreater and vapor recovery units. The overhaul will last approximately 30 nonproduction days.

During the fourth quarter of 2010, the diesel hydrotreater will have two catalysts changed. In the fourth quarter of 2011, the gasoline hydrotreater will change one catalyst.

General maintenance overhauls at the refinery are performed every five years. Consequently, after the one in September 2009, authorities expect to keep most units online until the future overhaul planned for 2014. The bidding process generally starts nine to 12 months before maintenance work is set to begin.
