Plant Sale Leads to Major Conversion and Retrofit for a Gulf Coast Chemical Plant

JP Industrial Products (Lisbon, Ohio) has purchased Lamson & Sessions' (NYSE: LMS) (Cleveland, Ohio) plastic corrugated pipe production plant located in Pasadena, Texas. Lamson & Sessions scaled back production at the site early this year as the sale became final and is currently moving a large portion of the plant's operating equipment, approximately ten production lines, to other sites including Clinton, Iowa and Erie, Pennsylvania.

JP Industrial, along with one of the plant's now retired and former plant managers, plan to take possession of the plant late this summer and continue to produce not only injection molded corrugated plastic pipe, but also spend over $6 million to add a 2,000 liter stainless steel blend tower and install new compounding equipment to begin producing custom colors under toll blending agreements. JP Industrial plans to have the most sophisticated compounding equipment available in operation by early next spring, capable of meeting the regions demand for high quality technical and custom colors.

JP Industrial is a privately owned company, with existing plant operations located in Ohio, producing plastic packaging materials, pallets, and recycled PVC. This will be their first plant to be located in the South.
