Sakwi Creek Power Completes Hydroelectric Project in British Columbia

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Sakwi Creek Power Corporation, a subsidiary of WindRiver Power Corporation (Calgary, Alberta), has completed a 5.5-megawatt (MW), run-of-river hydroelectric project, located northwest of Agassiz, British Columbia. The new facility began commercial operations earlier this month.

The project has a total investment value of $20 million.

All power produced by the facility will be sold to BC Hydro and Power Authority (Vancouver, British Columbia) under a 40-year electricity purchase agreement. The project is the first investment by the partnership between Connor, Clark & Lunn Infrastructure (Toronto, Canada) and WindRiver Power Corporation, which was announced in late 2011.

Hazelwood Construction Services Incorporated (Nanaimo, British Columbia) was selected as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor in March 2013, and was responsible for majority of the project's completion.
