Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Shanghai Electric Power Construction No.2 Engineering Company (SEPC2) (Shanghai), a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China (Power China) (Beijing), completed the generator stator installation for Unit 6 at China Power International Company Limited's (Hong Kong) 2,000-megawatt (MW), Phase III expansion at the Huainan Pingwei Power Plant on May 10, 2014, according to an announcement from Shanghai Electric Power Construction Company Limited (SEPC) (Shanghai), a regional subsidiary of Power China, on May 14.
The generator for Unit 6 made by Alstom Beizhong Power (Beijing) Company Limited reportedly weighs about 410 metric tons, the heaviest single piece of equipment in the project. The stator first was shipped by truck to the lifting hole in the steam turbine room and unloaded onto a special U-shaped bracket. It then was put in its final position by two QD130/32-32-meter bridge cranes operated in parallel, with the help of a pre-assembled special lifting tool and four sets of 200-metric-ton hydraulic lifting devices.
The Huainan Pingwei Power Plant, located in Pingwei Town, Huainan City in central China's Anhui province, is owned and operated by Anhui Huainan Pingwei Power Generation Company Limited (Huainan, Anhui), a subsidiary of China Power International. The power plant currently has four 660-megawatt (MW), coal-fired units in operation, with a total installed capacity of 2,540 MW.
The Phase III project is furnished with two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units, together with associated common and support facilities, with a total investment of about $1.2 billion. East China Electric Power Design Institute (ECEPDI) (Shanghai), a subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consulting Corporation (CPECC) (Beijing), is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.
The project received final approval from National Development and Reform Commission in February 2013. According to the schedule, the first unit of the project will begin operations at end of 2014, and both units will begin operations in the first half of 2015.
