Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Phase I of the largest sewage treatment plant in Nanning, the capital of southwestern Chinas Guangxi Province, began production on September 1. The facility is the areas first environment-friendly sewage plant with a deodorization system and is the second sewage plant in the city.
Covering an area of 41.54 hectares, the designed treatment capacity reaches 960,000 cubic meters per day. Funded by water-supplies company Lvcheng Water Supply Company Limited, the first phase of the project includes a daily processing capacity of 240,000 cubic meters of wastewater with an estimated investment of $83.5 million.
One of the projects highlights is its adoption of imported advanced technologies and equipment from the U.S., Britain, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Canada. An inverted A2/0 nitrogen and phosphorus removal processing system, which produces water surpassing the State 1/B standards, has been introduced in the plants operation.
The new plant boosts the processing capacity of Nanning City by 340,000 cubic meters per day, and the processing rate of waste water will surpass 60 percent, reducing the discharge of Chemical Oxygen Demand in the city and improving the water quality and residential environment.
Another site in the city is also witnessing the construction of a sewage plant with a daily processing capacity of 100,000 cubic meters of waste water. It is planned to begin operations by the end of this year. Its estimated that the total processing rate of sewage in the city will rise to 80 percent, consolidating its remaining status as a leading city in wastewater processing.
During the 11th five-year plan (2006-10), Lvcheng Water Supply will raise about $266.3 million more to build four sewage treatment plants in Nanning. The provinces sewage pipeline network will be improved, and sludge disposal plants will be built to advance the processing capability of wastewater in Nanning.
