Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The Development and Reform Commission of Shanxi Province (SDRC) issued the selected list, including the first batch, for five inferior, coal-fired power projects, along with consent to carry out pre-stage preparation on October 28, 2013.
At the beginning of the year, the National Energy Administration assigned the rights to the government of the Shanxi province for the approval of inferior, coal-fired power projects in Shanxi in a new round of deregulation. The Shanxi government then prepared the an implementation scheme for the approval of inferior coal-fired power projects.
At the end of August 2013, the Shanxi government called for the submission of applications for this type of project. Seventy-one projects with a total installed capacity of 59,660 megawatts (MW) were then submitted to the Development and Reform Commission of Shanxi Province through various sources, including related cities and counties, central enterprises stationed in Shanxi, and large enterprise groups directly owned by the provincial government.
After several rounds of selection, seven projects were chosen from the 71 applications for field investigation, including three in Shuozhou City, two in Lvliang City, and one each in Jinzhong City and Jincheng City. So far, eight specialty groups have conducted field investigations on these seven projects and submitted special investigation reports for them.
According to the recommendation of the specialty groups, the SDRC selected the first batch of five projects to kick off pre-stage preparation, including Shanxi International Energy Group's (Taiyuan, Shanxi) 700-MW Shanyin Beizhouzhuang Coal Gangue Power Station Phase II expansion; Shanxi Jinneng Company Limited's (Taiyuan, Shanxi) 700-MW Xiaoyi Xinyang Coal Gangue Power Station; Shanxi Luxin Datang Power Company Limited's (Jiexiu, Shanxi) 700-MW Jiexiu Coal Gangue Power Station; Datong Coal Mine Group Company Limited's (Datong, Shanxi) 700-MW Shuonan Coal Gangue Power Station; and China Coal Pingshuo Coal Company Limited's (Pingshuo, Shanxi) 700-MW Antaibao Coal Gangue Power Station.
