The company is at work on two Power Industry projects in the Great Lakes market region, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin. Among these is EDP Renewables North America LLC's planned Harvest Ridge Windfarm in Newman, Illinois. The 202-megawatt (MW) windfarm will have 101 wind turbine generators, using a mix of Vestas 3.45-MW and 4.2-MW turbines. Boldt is the general contractor on the project, which is expected to be completed early next year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Boldt also is a subcontractor on one of Wisconsin's largest projects currently under construction: Alliant Energy Corporation's (NASDAQ:LNT) (Madison, Wisconsin) 700-MW West Riverside Energy Center near Beloit. In its second-quarter earnings conference call in May, Alliant executives said the 730-MW natural gas-fired power plant was more than 80% complete and expected to be in service by the end of this year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report and May 6, 2019, article - Alliant Energy Cleaning Up Act with Wind, Natural Gas, Emissions Reduction Projects.
Boldt has established a solid reputation in the Pulp & Paper Industry, and Industrial Info is tracking several of the company's projects in this sector. Among the largest of these is Georgia-Pacific LLC's (Atlanta, Georgia) tissue machine addition at its plant in Palatka, Florida, about 60 miles south of Jacksonville. Boldt is acting as the general contractor on the project, which kicked off early last year. The project entails adding a 60,000-ton-per-year tissue machine and is expected to be completed early next year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report. The project also includes adding four new converting lines. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
In San Francisco, California, Boldt is providing design-build services on a life science project. Construction of a new medical research building at the San Francisco General Hospital is set to kick off later this year. The five-story, 175,000-square-foot building will consolidate operations from seven existing buildings and accommodate research scientists and other employees from the University of California at San Francisco. The $200 million project is planned to wrap up in the first half of 2021. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
The Boldt Company is completing a general contracting job on a modernization project at a steel melt shop in Saukville, Wisconsin. The project at Charter Steel Company's (Saukville) 550,000-ton-per-year specialty steel processing mill melt shop began in the summer of 2017 and entails integrating Tenova Core Incorporated's (Corapolis, Pennsylvania) Consteel continuous charging system with the existing electric arc furnace to improve efficiency and help control gaseous emissions. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Among Boldt's traditional manufacturing sector projects is the expansion of Amcor Limited's (Melbourne, Australia) flexible packaging manufacturing plant in Madison, Wisconsin. The project will add a 90,000-square-foot building expansion at the existing 206,000-square-foot facility to increase production capacity and provide expanded service offerings in the pharmaceutical, medical, food and personal care markets. Construction began late last year and is expected to wrap up soon. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
