Toyota Plans New Secondary Aluminum Smelter in Tennessee

Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America (TMMNA)(NYSE: TM)(Erlanger, Kentucky) plans to construct a new $20 million secondary aluminum smelter in Jackson, Tennessee. The plant will be operated by Most Incorporated (Troy, Missouri) and the construction will begin in June 2004. H&M Construction (Jackson, Tennessee) is performing construction services for the new plant.
The aluminum smelter is expected to produce 25,000 Ton/year of aluminum alloy 380 to supply their die casting plant currently under construction in Jackson, Tennessee. The $124 million, 100,000 square foot die casting plant will produce one million aluminum engine cylinder block castings per year and is expected to complete construction early 2005.
