Turnaround Rescheduled for Total's Grandpuits Refinery

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Total SA (NYSE:TOT) (Paris, France) has rescheduled a plant-wide turnaround for the company's 100,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Grandpuits Refinery, located just to the east of Paris. The turnaround was originally scheduled to begin in early February, but will now commence on March 15.

A 45-day turnaround has been scheduled for several units, and Total expects at least $7.5 million in total costs. Units to be inspected during this time include the following:

• 31,500-BBL/d fluid catalytic cracker unit (FCCU)
• 3,500-BBL/d alkylation unit
• 16,000-BBL/d visbreaker unit

The 47,000-BBL/d crude and vacuum units, as well as the 12,200-BBL/d reformer and associated units, will undergo a 25-day turnaround starting at the same time. At least $6.5 million in total turnaround costs are expected.

Total holds interests in 25 refineries around the world, including the 12 that it owns and operates. The company owns and operates a refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, and 11 refineries in Western Europe. Refining in Western Europe accounts for 85% of Total's overall refining capacity.
