Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking more than $6 billion in planned fourth-quarter 2019 projects starts in the Industrial Manufacturing Industry in the U.S. Southeast market region, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee and Puerto Rico. The projects cover of range of sectors, including vehicle components assembly plants, rail, and warehousing and distribution facilities. Among the largest projects planned to kick off in the region in the upcoming quarter is a rail Phase II extension project in Florida. The project entails extending an existing route from West Palm Beach to the Orlando International Airport by 40 miles of new track. In addition, 129 miles of existing track will be upgraded to allow for service of up to 110 miles per hour. The project has several general contractors, including Hubbard Construction Company (Winter Park, Florida). Completion is expected by the end of 2022. The Southeast has become a hotspot for projects involving the assembly of vehicles and their components. In Clarksville, Tennessee, Hankook Tires Company Limited (Seoul, South Korea) will begin Phase II construction on a high-end performance radial tire manufacturing plant. The $400 million project is part of a two-phase development to bring production to 5.5 million tires annually for select Toyota (NYSE:TM) Camry and Honda (NYSE:HMC) Accord models. The project entails construction of a 750,000-square-foot building addition, doubling the size of the existing facility. I.C. Thomasson Associates Incorporated (Nashville, Tennessee) is providing design engineering services. The project is expected to begin early in the quarter and be completed in fourth-quarter 2020. In Gainesville, Georgia, Fox Factory Holding Corporation (Scotts Valley, California) will begin construction on a grassroot truck and sport vehicle suspension manufacturing plant. The 335,700-square-foot facility will manufacture suspension systems for Ford (NYSE:F) F-150 Raptor trucks, sport vehicles and bicycles. Carroll Daniel Construction Company is the general contractor on the project, which is set to be completed in the first quarter of next year. Among these is Rooms to Go Incorporated's (Seffner, Florida) $69 million renovation of its facility in Lebanon, Tennessee. The project involves renovations and structural modifications to the 902,000-square-foot warehouse facility, which includes 100 dock doors and 147 trailer spaces. The $60 million project has a range of factors that include raising the site above the 100-year flood elevation by the placement of 50,000 cubic yards of compacted fill, creating vehicle processing buildings, and wharf rehabilitation to accommodate vessels ranging from 175 to 265 meters in length.
