Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Williams Companies Incorporated (NYSE:WMB) (Tulsa, Oklahoma) is planning to construct a new natural gas processing plant near Meeker in Colorados Piceance Basin. The new Willow Creek plant will process approximately 450 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of natural gas and product between 20,000 and 30,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) of NGLs. In support of the new $300 cryogenic plant, Williams will install three new 19,000 horsepower Solar Titan turbine compressor packages.
Williams existing processing plants in the Piceance Basin can process 600 mmcfd of natural gas and can recover and produce approximately 4,500 BBL/d of NGLs. The existing plants primary design is to condition natural gas to meet pipeline quality specifications. The new Willow Creek processing plant will allow Williams to produce more of the higher value liquids in addition to the natural gas it already processes for pipeline transport.
Williams expects to select an E+P+C vendor before the end of the second quarter of 2007 and begin ordering equipment soon afterwards. Construction start-up on the Willow Creek gas plant is expected to begin in March 2008, with a completion date targeted for September 2009.
