The plant will produce fuel-efficient automatic transmissions for the passenger-car and light-truck markets.
Construction on the state-of-the-art facility is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2011 and be finished by the first quarter of 2012. The new transmission plant is expected to employ 900 workers by 2015. Hiring is anticipated to begin in early 2012 for skilled positions, including CNC operators, assemblers, and production and logistics staff.
ZF Group NOA chose Walbridge (Detroit, Michigan) to act as general contractor.
