Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Privately held Pinnacle Renewable Energy Group (Prince George, British Columbia) is nearing completion of a seventh fuel-pellet mill in British Columbia.
Pinnacle Renewable Energy formed the Lavington Pellet Limited Partnership (Lavington, British Columbia) with Tolko Industries Limited (Vernon, British Columbia) to build the pellet mill in Lavington.
The facility is located north of the Tolko Lavington sawmill, on 7.1 acres. The mill will produce fuel pellets from the adjacent sawmill's sawdust and shavings. It will draw fiber via truck deliveries from other sawmills in the region.
The estimated $45 million mill will produce 250,000 tonnes per year of fuel pellets. It will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will create 20 jobs for the area, along with 15 trucking-related positions.
A new rail spur has been added to the existing Tolko track to accommodate the loading of up to 35 rail cars, with a load-out rate of seven to 12 cars per day. The pellets will be shipped to Pinnacle's new, $30 million export terminal in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, then on to Europe.
Stolberg Engineering Limited (Richmond, British Columbia) supplied engineering and design services. Contractors Timber West Mill Construction Limited (Prince George, British Columbia) and Service Electric Limited (Quesnel, British Columbia) also served on the project.
The mill is 75% to 80% complete and is expected to begin operations by the end of August.
