Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Pembina Pipeline Corporation (NYSE:PBA) (Calgary, Alberta) announced that it will raise the carrying capacity of its planned Phase V crude oil pipeline expansion in Alberta from 260,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) to 305,000 BBL/d. Industrial Info is tracking $3.8 billion in active Pembina projects.
The Phase V expansion project consists of running 20-inch pipe approximately 95 kilometers from Lator to Fox Creek in Alberta. The increase in capacity comes with increased demand from clients. In a press release, Pembina said: "The Company's Conventional Pipelines' business has continued to receive customer demand for its transportation services. Since Phase V was originally announced in April 2017, Pembina has secured approximately 30,000 barrels per day in additional volume commitments."
The expansion will increase the cost of the project by approximately C$135 million ($108 million) to a total of C$385 million ($308 million). Pembina says that clearing and access to right-of-way is 90% complete, and construction on the project is expected to begin shortly. The pipeline expansion has a targeted in-service date of late 2018. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Pembina also is seeking regulatory approvals and progressing with engineering for its Phase IV expansion, which will increase capacity between Fox Creek and Namao, Alberta. The project consists of the addition of two pump stations near Fox Creek and Edmonton to carry crude oil and condensate. The project will increase capacity to a total of 680,000 BBL/d on the pipeline. The pump station additions have a combined total investment value of $75 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the Fox Creek and Edmonton pump stations.
Pembina is wrapping up a grassroot natural gas liquids (NGL) and condensate pipeline in northeast British Columbia. The project includes constructing 145 kilometers of 12-inch pipeline parallel to Pembina's existing Blueberry system to carry 75,000 BBL/d of NGL and condensate from the Montney play to interconnect with Pembina's pipeline system in Taylor, British Columbia. Construction on the $189 million project began earlier this year and is expected to be wrapped up in the very near future. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
On the Production side, the company is underway with construction of a natural gas processing plant in Alberta. The facility will have a capacity of 100 million cubic feet per day of natural gas and 5,500 BBL/d of NGL produced from the Duvernay Shale. The project kicked off in the third quarter of 2016 and is expected to be wrapped up shortly. Solstice Projects Incorporated (Calgary) is performing engineering, procurement and construction on the project. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report. A Phase II expansion of the project remains in the early planning stage. The project, which could kick off early next year, would double the capacity of the plant. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report on Phase II.
The company also has proposed a grassroot propane export terminal in Kennewick, Washington. The facility would accommodate 1.6 million gallons per day of liquid propane shipped by rail from Pembina's Redwater facility in Alberta before being loaded on propane tankers for export to global markets. Construction on the $500 million project would take an estimated two years to complete. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
