Ashta Chemicals Incorporated (Ashtabula, Ohio) recently announced plans to add a second chlor-alkali plant to its family, with a grassroot plant to be located in El Dorado, Arkansas. Although plans are preliminary this plant will have an estimated production capacity of 35,000 metric tons per year of chlorine using membrane cell technology, and will also produce potassium hydroxide (KOH).
