EIA: U.S. Renewables Generation Doubles Since 2008

SUGAR LAND--March 20, 2019--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports that between 2008 and 2018, renewable energy generation in the U.S. rose from 382 million megawatt-hours (MWh) to 742 million MWh, nearly doubling. Nearly 90% of this increase came from wind and solar generation. Renewables provided 17.6% of power generated in the U.S. in 2018. This seems on track to increase even more in the coming years. Industrial Info is tracking more than $82.5 billion in renewable energy projects that are set to kick off in the U.S. in 2019. The Southwest market region leads in terms project value, with $17.2 billion in planned projects, followed by the Midwest region, with $15.4 billion, and the Rocky Mountains region, with $13.5 billion.
