More offshore Oil & Gas Production has been shut down in the Gulf of Mexico as Hurricane Laura appears bound for the Texas-Louisiana coast. Laura was moving across the southeastern Gulf of Mexico as of Tuesday morning, and was expected to hit the U.S. coast on Wednesday. A hurricane warning was in effect from San Luis Pass, Texas, to Intracoastal City, Louisiana.
Meanwhile, Marco has dissipated from tropical storm strength to a remnant low just south of Louisiana, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Shut-in offshore crude oil production in the Gulf had risen to 1.5 million barrels per day as of Monday, and shut-in natural gas production amounted 1.5 billion cubic feet per day, according to the U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE). Platform closures and evacuations rose from 115 to 281.
