Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The first unit of Hebei Construction & Investment Corporation (HCIC)'s 1,200-megawatt (MW) Shahe Power Plant successfully passed the 168-hour full load continuous trial operation and was put into commercial operation on March 30, 2013. During the trial operation, the unit was operated stably with all protections, automation and instruments 100% in operation; water and steam quality were 100% qualified, and the average load ratio reached 100.8%. It took just 30 days from the first grid connection to the completion of the 168-hour trial operation.

HCIC Shahe Power Plant is located in Shahe City, a county-level city under Xingtai City in North China's Hebei Province. The project is furnished with two 600MW air cooled supercritical coal-fired units, together with associated common and support facilities such as the coal handling system, electrostatic precipitator, flue gas desulfurization and low NOx devices. HCIC Shahe Power Generation Company Limited (Xingtai, Hebei), a subsidiary of the HCIC, is responsible for the development as well as operation of the project.

Hebei Electric Power Survey & Design Research Institute (Shijiazhuang, Hebei) and Hebei No.1 Electric Power Construction Company (Shijiazhuang, Hebei), two subsidiaries of Power Construction Corporation of China (PCCC) (Beijing), are responsible for the engineering and construction of the project respectively.

The project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in February 2010. Construction of the project was then officially started on April 19, 2010. Presently, the project owner is working closely with related parties for the commissioning of Unit 2.

Upon completion, the project shall replace 804.6MW of small coal-fired units in Hebei Xingtai Power Generation Company Limited (Xingtai, Hebei), Xingtai Xiangtai Thermal Power Company Limited (Xingtai, Hebei) and Lingshan Power Generation Company Limited (Xingtai, Hebei).
