Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The First Northeast Electric Power Engineering Company (NEPC) (Tieling, Liaoning), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), boxed up the No. 1 low-pressure cylinder for Unit 3 of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group's (CGNPC) (Shenzhen, Guangdong) Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station on April 7, 2013, according to an announcement from the CEEC on April 10.

As reported, the box-up for the low-pressure cylinder began in the morning of the same day. After nine hours of erection, the box-up was completed. There are three low-pressure cylinders. Erection of the No. 1 cylinder took four hours less than the time spent for the No. 3 cylinder, and two hours less than the No. 2 cylinder.

Erection of the steam turbine for Unit 3 kicked off in May 2012. The single-shaft reheat steam turbine was manufactured by Dongfang Electrical Machinery Company Limited (Deyang, Sichuan), a subsidiary of Dongfang Electrical Corporation (SH:600875) (Chengdu, Sichuan).

The Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station is located in Hongyanhe Town, Wafangdian City of northeast China's Liaoning province, which is about 110 kilometers to Dalian City, or 270 kilometers to Shenyang City. The power station was the first nuclear power project to kick off construction during the 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-10) in China, and the largest energy investment project in northeast China.

Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Company Limited (Dalian, Liaoning), a joint venture of the CGNPC (45%), CPI Nuclear Power Company Limited (Beijing) (45%) and Dalian Construction and Investment Corporation (Dalian) (10%), is responsible for the development and operation of the project.

According to plans, the power station will be furnished with six 1,000-megawatt (MW) nuclear power units in two phases. Unit 1 was commissioned in February 2013, and the cold test for Unit 2 was completed in February 2013. According to the schedule, all four units in Phase I will begin operations by the end of 2015.
