Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Following the completion of the first fuel loading for Unit 1 on October 2, 2012, the pressure test for the third stream generator of Unit 2 in China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation's (CGNPC) (Shenzhen, Guangdong) Ningde Nuclear Power Station was completed on October 8, 2012. The secondary water pressure test for all three steam generators of Unit 2 has been completed, and all test items are satisfactory with the specifications, according to an announcement from the CGNPC on October 15, 2012.
The Ningde Nuclear Power plant, located on the coast of the East China Sea in Qinyu Town, Fuding City of Southeast China's Fujian province, is built and operated by Fujian Ningde Nuclear Power Company Limited (FNNPC) (Ningde, Fujian), a subsidiary of the CGNPC, with joint investment from Datang International Power Generation Company Limited (Beijing, China) and Fujian Coal Industry (Group) Company Limited (Fuzhou, China). The power plant has a total planned capacity of six 1,000-megawatt (MW) units based on an improved second generation of advanced pressurized water reactors to be built in two phases. Of which, construction of units 1 and 2 in Phase I started on November 21, 2008, and June 17, 2009, respectively.
China Nuclear Industry Huaxing Construction Company Limited (Nanjing, Jiangsu) and China Nuclear Industry 23rd Construction Corporation (Beijing), two subsidiaries of China Nuclear Engineering Group Corporation (Beijing), are responsible for the construction and nuclear island erection works of the project, respectively. The EIA report prior to the first fuel loading of the project received approval from the Ministry of Environment Protection (MEP) in August 2012. On September 27, 2012, the FNNPC received permit from the MEP for Unit 1 to begin the first fuel loading.
So far, the hot test for Unit 1 of the project has been completed. According to the schedule, Unit 1 of the project will begin operation by the end of this year and Unit 2 will begin operation in the second half of 2013.
