Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The first steam turbine generator of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation's (CGNPC) (Shenzhen, Guangdong) Ningde Nuclear Power Plant first reached its rated speed of 1,500 revolutions per minute (rpm) on December 13, 2012. The first unit of the project has achieved another important milestone following the first critical date, according to an announcement from the CGNPC on December 17.

During the startup of the unit, related parameters of the unit were stable and the unit was of sound control. After the startup of the steam turbine, the unit will be begin on-grid commissioning.

The Ningde Nuclear Power Station is located in Qinyu Town, Fuding City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Ningde City in East China's Fujian province. The power station has a total planned capacity of six 1,000-megawatt (MW) units to be built in two phases that are based on the improved second generation of advanced pressurized water reactors, including four units to be built in Phase I. Construction of the first two units in Phase I started on November 21, 2008, and June 17, 2009.

The project is jointly invested by Ningde Nuclear Power Company Limited (Ningde, Fujian), a project company jointly invested by the CGNPC, Datang International Power Generation Company Limited (Beijing, China) and Fujian Coal Industry (Group) Company Limited (Fuzhou, China). China Nuclear Power Engineering Company Limited (Shenzhen), a subsidiary of CGNPC, is serving as the general contractor on the project. China Nuclear Industry Huaxing Construction Company Limited (Nanjing, Jiangsu) and China Nuclear Industry 23rd Construction Corporation (Beijing), two subsidiaries of China Nuclear Engineering Group Corporation (Beijing), are responsible for the construction and nuclear island erection works of the project, respectively.

According to plans, the first two units in Phase I will begin operations by the end of 2013.
