Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The overall planning for Xinjiang Hami Balikun Mining Zone and Xinjiang Hami Dananhu Mining Zone recently received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), according to an announcement from the Development and Reform Commission of the Xinjiang autonomous region on August 16, 2013. This is considered a breakthrough in the construction of the project to export coal from the Turpan-Hami field in Xinjiang.
Both are important mining development zones in the program to export coal from Xinjiang. The Balikun Mining Zone covers 712 square kilometers and has total coal resources of 3 billion metric tons; it is divided into 12 mining shafts and four exploitation zones, with a total planned production capacity of 17.85 million metric tons per year.
The Hami Dananhu Mining Zone covers 479 square kilometers, with total coal resources of 14.7 billion metric tons. The mining zone is divided into seven mines with a total planned production capacity of 52 million metric tons per year. It is an important coal supply base for the associated support power source projects for the proposed Hami-Zhengzhou 800-kilovolt, ultra-high voltage DC transmission line.
The two mining zones will play an important role in promoting the construction of a large-scale coal base in Xinjiang; in promoting the development of a new type of industry; in converting the local advantage of coal resources into economic and industrial benefits; and in balancing the nation's coal supply and demand.
