Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--North China Power Engineering Company Limited (NCPE), a regional subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consultancy Corporation (CPECC) (Beijing), received a notice-of-bid award from Sinopec Tendering Company Limited (Beijing) for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for Zhongtian Hechuang Energy Company Limited's (Ordos, Inner Mongolia) 300-megawatt (MW) cogeneration power project on April 30, 2014, according to an announcement from the CPECC on May 6. NCPE expects this to open doors for the company in the general contracting market of the petrochemical industry.
According to the notice-of-bid award, NCPE will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of a 300-MW cogeneration power plant for Zhongtian Hechuang Energy's deep-processing coal project in Ordos, including five 490-ton-per-hour, ultra-high pressure coal pulverized boilers; a 240-ton-per-hour, ultra-high pressure coal pulverized boiler with two 135-MW, direct air-cooling extraction, condensing steam turbine generating units; and a 30-MW backpressure steam turbine generating unit. Total investment in the project will be more than $5.1 billion.
The project is a large-scale, comprehensive energy project and a national demonstration on coal deep-processing, jointly invested by China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec Group) (Beijing), China National Coal Energy Company Limited (Beijing), Shanghai Shenergy Group Company Limited (Shanghai) and Inner Mongolia Meng Shi Group (Ordos, Inner Mongolia).
By using coal produced from Mengkeqing and Hulusi, two 10 million-metric-ton-per-year, large-scale coal mines as raw materials, the project is planned to produce 3.6 million metric tons per year of methanol in a coal chemical industrial park in Tuke Town of Wushen Qi, Ordos City.
Phase I of the methanol project received approval from the Reform and Development Commission of Inner Mongolia in August 2013, and the EPC contracts of main devices were awarded in December 2013. In April 2014, the 13 million-metric-ton-per-year Hulusu Coal Mine and the 12 million-metric-ton-per-year Mengkeqing Coal Mine received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
