In the first phase, 20 GW of offshore wind capacity will be allocated by 2030. To date, France has put 9 GW of offshore wind up for auction.
Recently, France's Minister of Energy Transition) selected Eoliennes en Mer Manche Normandie, a special purpose company of EDF Renouvelables (Paris, France), and Maple Power (London, England) to build and operate the 1-GW Centre Manche 1 offshore windfarm, which is located 32 kilometers off the coast of the Manche and Calvados departments in the English Channel.
Another 1.5-GW offshore project, Centre Manche 2, is currently under bidding, which will be finalized by the end of 2023.
