Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Front Range Energy LLC (Windsor, Colorado) has begun construction on a new $54 million fuel ethanol plant in Windsor, Colorado. Plans call for the construction of a 40 million gallons per year fuel ethanol plant that will convert about 15 million bushels of corn annually into the renewable fuel. The plant will also produce an estimated 120,000 tons per year of dried distillers grains, a by-product of ethanol production used as a feed additive.
Front Range Energy spent years studying sites across the country for its ethanol plant before deciding on Colorado. The site in Windsor was selected due to the large number of cattle for the feed additive in the area and a requirement for gasoline to be blended with ethanol in the area.
Front Range is the second fuel ethanol plant to be recently built in Colorado. Sterling Ethanol LLC is nearing completion of a 42 million gallons per year plant in Sterling, Colorado and two other plants in the state are in early development stages.
