Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The Ministry of Environment Protection (MEP) recently announced that the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report for Guodian Chengdu Jintang Power Generation Company Limited's (Chengdu, Sichuan) 2,000-megawatt (MW) expansion project at the Jintang Power Plant passed its examination.
The Guodian Jintang Power Plant is located at Chenga Industrial Park in Hongyang Village of Huaikou Town in Jintang County, in southwestern China's Sichuan province. The power plant currently has two 600-MW, coal-fired units that were commissioned in May and September 2007, respectively. The Phase II expansion project is located on the northern side of the existing plant.
The expansion will be furnished with two 2,965.5-ton-per-hour, ultra-supercritical, pulverized, coal-fired boilers to support 1,000 steam turbine generating units with a total investment of about $1.3 billion. Both units will be furnished with a flue gas limestone-plaster wet desulfurization device; selective catalyst reduction (SCR) device; low-NOx burner for nitrogen oxide control; a three-room, two-electric-field electrostatic; and baghouse compound dust-removing device with a 240-meter chimney. The secondary circulation cooling system for the project will be furnished with a natural circulation cooling tower. Both production water and water for domestic use will be taken from the Jiulongtan Reservoir on the Tuojiang River.
In addition, an ash disposal located about 7 kilometers southwest of the plant site will be built in Shuikou Village. The total investment will be about $1.3 billion, including about $96 million for environmental protection facilities, accounting for about 8.4% of the total investment.
The Survey & Engineering Contract for the project had been awarded to Southwest Electric Power Design Institute (Chengdu, Sichuan) in December 2012. According to the schedule, construction of the project will kick-off in the first quarter of 2014, and both units will be put into operation in the first half of 2016.
