Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--State-owned Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) (Mumbai), India's second-largest downstream oil company, continues to make heavy investments in the country's petrochemicals sector as it aims to increase the share of its petrochemicals business from 1% to 10%.
BPCL is planning to set up a US$2.7 billion greenfield petrochemicals complex at Rasayani, Maharashtra--its first non-refinery integrated complex--to manufacture polypropylene (PP) and ethylene and its derivatives. Fluor Daniel India Private Limited (Gurgaon) is providing front-end engineering design (FEED) and project management consultancy (PMC) services. However, the project is moving somewhat slowly due to certain changes in management and land acquisition and environmental-clearance issues. It is slated for completion by the end of 2026.
