Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--INEOS New Planet BioEnergy LLC, a joint venture of INEOS Bio (Gladbeck, Germany) and New Planet Energy Florida LLC (Vero Beach, Florida), says that its cellulosic-based ethanol production facility that is under construction in Indian River County, Florida, is expected to be fully operational by August 2012.
The original plan was to have the plant up and running by the spring of 2012, but the timetable is now running about four months behind due to the lengthy evaluation of the contractor building the plant, AMEC (Tucker, Georgia).
Construction on the estimated $130 million plant began in February of this year. The first-of-its-kind waste-to-ethanol plant will process approximately 150,000 tons per year of grass clippings, tree cuttings, waste wood and agricultural plant debris into 8 million gallons per year of fuel ethanol. Included in the project is a 6.3-megawatt electric power generating unit that will be biomass-powered.
INEOS has several chemical production facilities across the U.S. The company's facilities in Texas have nearly $200 million in capital and maintenance projects scheduled in 2011 and beyond. The company also has plants in Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, Illinois and Alabama that have nearly $60 million in planned projects and maintenance activity.
