Macquarie Infrastructure Breaks Ground on 800-MW Power Station in Ohio

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Macquarie Infrastructure Partners III (New York City, New York), along with Siemens Financial Services (Munich, Germany) broke ground last week on a natural gas-fueled, 800-megawatt (MW), combined-cycle generating station, which will be located about 50 miles southeast of Cleveland, Ohio, in the village of Lordstown.

The facility will be a 2x1 combined-cycle power plant, and Siemens will act as the engineering procurement construction (EPC) contractor. The project will feature Siemens H-class technology and provide the gas turbines, a steam turbine, and generators. Siemens will also be responsible for hiring sub-contractors during the duration of the project.

The project is expected to take more than two years to complete and will involve up to 500 union workers at the peak of construction. The facility will also bring 20 permanent full-time jobs to the community. The power generated from the facility will be sold through the PJM Interconnection market and will provide enough energy for 800,000 homes.

The project has a total investment value (TIV) of $800 million and is expected to be completed in June 2018.
