Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Alten Energias Renovables Mexico S.A. de CV (Mexico City, Mexico) soon will begin construction of a solar photovoltaic (PV) power station in the state of Aguascalientes, in northern Mexico. The station will be located about 20 kilometers east of Aguascalientes, in the municipality of El Llano. The project has a total estimated value of $280 million.
Ortiz Construcciones y Proyectos (Madrid, Spain) will serve as the project builder. It will comprise four phases, each consisting of 36 megawatts (MW). Once completed, the facility will provide 144 MW on a 430-acre site, and will include 480,000 solar panels that will generate more than 300 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity annually. The station will generate enough electricity for about 180,000 homes. It will prevent about 285,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions a year.
Alten Energias Renovables will operate the plant, and the electricity generated will be sold to state utility Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE). The project is estimated to create about 350 site preparation and construction jobs. About 20 to 25 permanent positions will be created for the security, operation and maintenance of the power station.
This project is scheduled to break ground sometime in June to August 2015. The station is slated for full operation in September or October 2018.
Alten Energias Renovables Mexico is part of Alten Energias Renovables (Madrid, Spain).
