Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Hubei Electric Power Construction No.2 Engineering Company Limited (HEPC2) (Wuhan, Hubei), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), placed the first bucket of concrete for units 3 and 4 of Shenhua Guoneng Energy Group Company Limited's (Shenhua Guoneng) (Beijing) Hami Power Plant on March 12, 2013. The civil works for the project have kicked off, according to an announcement from the PCCC on March 19.
The Hami Power Plant originally was invested by the former State Grid Energy Development Company Limited (Beijing). In later 2012, State Grid Energy was acquired by Shenhua Group and renamed to Shenhua Guoneng. Shenhua Guoneng Hami Coal & Power Development Company Limited (Hami, Xinjiang), a fully owned subsidiary of Shenhua Guoneng, is responsible for the development and future operation of the project.
As one of the power source support projects for an 800-kilovolt (kV), direct current, ultra-high voltage transmission line in China's program to transmit power eastward, the power plant will be furnished with four 660-MW, direct air-cooling, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units. HEPC 2 won the general contract for the construction and installation of units 3 and 4 through public bidding in late 2012.
As reported, the steam turbine, generator and boiler (TGB) for the project will be supplied by Shanghai Electric Corporation (Shanghai) and Dongfang Electric Corporation (Chengdu, Sichuan). According to the schedule, the construction of mechanical works for the project is expected to kick off in May 2013, and both units of the project will be put into operation in March and June 2015. However, the project is still subject to the final approval of the National Development and Reform Commission, the top planner in China.
