This marks that the main works erection for the first device of PetroChina's Sichuan Refining and Chemical Complex has been completed, according to China National Petroleum Corporation (Beijing).
PetroChina's Sichuan Refining and Chemical Complex, occupying an area of 400 hectares in the Pengzhou Industrial Park of Chengdu City, is not only a key project listed in the nation's 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015), but is the highest-value integrated refining and chemical ever built in China. The complex includes the refinery, the chemical works, and common and auxiliary works. The refinery will have an annual crude oil processing capacity of approximately 214,000 barrels per day, and the chemical works will include an 800,000-ton-per-year ethylene project. The project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission in May 2008. Construction of the project officially kicked off on June 6, 2009. According to the planning, the total investment in the project will be about $6 billion.
The atmospheric and vacuum distillation device is the key project in the refinery. The erection of the main works consists of 343 sets of large-scale equipment and 70 kilometers of process pipelines.
According to the schedule, the entire project will begin operations this year. Upon completion, the project will be able to produce 3.6 million tons per year of diesel and 2 million tons per year of gasoline at Euro III standard or above, which will greatly contribute to the improvement of local environmental protection.
