Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Pattern Energy Group (San Francisco, California) has completed construction on Phase I of the Panhandle Windfarm in Panhandle, Texas, and has connected it to the grid. The first of two phases consists of 118 General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) wind turbines, each with a capacity of 1.85 MW, for a total of 218 MW that will be available to Carson County, Texas.

Phase II is still under construction and will use Siemens AG (NYSE:SI) (Munich, Germany) turbines. This phase will be smaller than Phase I, with 79 wind turbines at 2.3 MW each. When both phases are complete, the Pandhandle Windfarm will provide up to 399 MW.

M.A. Mortenson (Minneapolis, Minnesota) is the general contractor for both phases of the project.
