Among the largest projects with which Suffolk is involved is the Phase I modernization of Terminal E at the Logan International Airport in Boston. The $750 million project kicked off earlier this year and involves constructing 400,000 square feet of new terminal space and renovating the 800,000 square feet to consolidate passenger security checkpoints, modernize other service areas and accommodate four new aircraft gates. AECOM (NYSE:ACM) (Los Angeles, California) is the architect on the projects, and Suffolk is performing construction management services. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2021. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Also in Boston, Suffolk is general contractor on the Abbey Group's (Boston) Flower Exchange South End life science research and development campus. The project entails constructing a six-story, 230,000-square-foot building with 193,000 square feet of lab space and a 14-story, 480,700-square-foot building with 284,000 square feet of lab space. The facilities will house multiple tenants focused on the life sciences and other related disciplines. Construction is planned to kick off soon. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

In California, Suffolk is wrapping up general contracting services on Phase I of a biotech campus redevelopment project in South San Francisco for private equity firm The Blackstone Group (NYSE:BX) (New York, New York). The $225 million project kicked off in late 2017 and is the first of five planned phases that will demolish all existing structures and replace them with five or six new buildings totaling 1 million or more square feet. Phase I involved demolishing two buildings and constructing a 550,000-square-foot LEED-Silver-certified building and other facilities. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Suffolk also is involved in a project in the District of Columbia for the Children's National Health System (Washington, D.C.) at the former Walter Reed Army Medical Campus. An eight-story, 375,000-square-foot building is being renovated as part of a larger planned project for the study of pediatric ailments. The $90 million project kicked off earlier this year and is expected to be completed next summer. Elkus Manfredi Architects Limited (Boston) is providing architect and engineering services. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Like other large construction firms, Suffolk Construction has been pulled into the realm of data centers, which are being built and expanded throughout the U.S. In Lockport, New York, Verizon Communications Incorporated (NYSE:VZ) (New York, New York) is underway with an expansion of an existing facility that involves construction of a 75,000-square-foot data center hall to enhance global data services for Yahoo!, Huffington Post, AOL and other Verizon media products. Suffolk is the general contractor on the project, which is expected to wrap up by the end of this year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
