Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Calgary, Alberta based ATCO Power (TSE:ACO) started commercial operation of its 32 MW Oldman River Hydro Power Station in Alberta Canada northeast of Pincher Creek.
The $33 million Oldman River Hydro Power Station started construction in February of 2001 and was originally planned to be operational in late 2002. Due to economic reasons, the plant didn't start commercial operation until June 21, 2003. ATCO was selected in 1999 by Alberta Environment to develop the project, which involves two horizontal axis Francis Turbines providing power to 25,000 households in Alberta Canada.
Acres Engineering, a subsidiary of Acres Group (Oakville, Ontario), performed the design and construction for the plant. VA Tech Bouvier S.A. (Grenoble, France) provided the two 16 MW hydraulic turbines for Oldman River Hydro Power Station.
ATCO Power a subsidiary of ATCO Group (Calgary, Alberta) has ownership in 20 power plants in Canada with a combined capacity of 4,850 megawatts (MW). ATCO Power, founded in 1988, has established itself as a Canadian based, international leader in power project development, construction, ownership and operation. ATCO has over 6,000 employees engaged in power generation and distribution.
