Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Akuo Energy USA, a subsidiary of Akuo Energy (Paris, France), is developing a 200-megawatt windfarm in Edwards County, Texas. The Rocksprings Windfarm will be built in two phases.
View Project Report - 300180682 300180953
Each phase will include 56 General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) 1.7-103 wind-turbine generator sets.
At maximum output, each phase will have a nameplate capacity of 100.24 MW. General Electric will operate and maintain the equipment through a long-term service agreement.
Project developers began civil site preparation in December 2013. Akuo qualified for a federal renewable energy production tax credit. Many companies had tried unsuccessfully to obtain the tax credit, which expired at the end of 2013. Potential roadblocks included failure to land power purchase agreements with local utilities; terrain and weather issues; insufficient data; and project backlogs.
Some other projects have moved forward with the tax credit.
