Ameren to Release RFPs for 100 Megawatts of Wind Power in First Quarter 2007

Ameren Corporation (NYSE:AEE) (Saint Louis, Missouri), which provides power in Eastern Missouri and Central and Southern Illinois, in an effort to meet clean air emission mandates, has decided to buy wind power from outside vendors. Ameren expects to release the RFP’s (request for proposals) in February 2007 and select a developer(s) in late March or early April 2007. The RFP will be for 100 megawatts, and although the windfarms do not necessarily have to be constructed in Illinois or Missouri, those that are will be given preference. Once selected, the chosen developer will have until late 2008 to mid-2009 to permit, build and start operations of their windfarms.
