American Electric Power Completes Construction of $130 Million Power Project in Arkansas

AEP-Southwestern Electric Power Company (Shreveport, Louisiana), a subsidiary of American Electric Power Company (NYSE:AEP ) (Columbus, Ohio), has completed construction and start-up testing of the $130 Million 320-Megawatt Harry D Mattison Peaking Power project located in Tontitown, Arkansas.

Construction for the project began in January, AEP anticipates full commercial start-up of the first two units this month while other two units will begin commercial operations in December. The plant consists of four 80-Megawatt natural gas-fired GE Power Systems MS7001EA combustion turbine generators. The new facility will operate in a simple cycle peaking capacity generating a total of 320-Megawatts of much needed power for AEP customers.

Wood Group Power Solutions of Tulsa, Oklahoma, a subsidiary of Wood Group, headquartered in Houston, Texas, will provide the turnkey EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services for the project.
