Anheuser-Busch Distributor, Chas. Seligman Distributing to Construct New Warehouse in Kentucky; Design-Build Firm Identified

Fighting cramped operating space at its existing location and projecting a two percent increase in sales this year, the company decided it was time to relocate the 61-year-old distribution company.

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Chas. Seligman Distributing Company, Incorporated (Crescent Springs, Kentucky) is planning to construct a new beer distribution and storage warehouse in Walton, Kentucky, situated about seventeen miles south of Cincinnati.

Fighting cramped operating space at its existing location and projecting a two percent increase in sales this year, the company decided it was time to relocate the 61-year-old distribution company. The company purchased about 60-acres of land just north of Walton, Kentucky, with plans to construct a new $12 million, 130,000 square foot refrigerated warehouse, distribution center, and headquarters building.

Seligman awarded a design-build contract to the Miller Valentine Group (Dayton, Ohio). The contractor is currently finalizing design drawings and is waiting to receive the final construction permits before starting steel erection. Plans are to begin dirt work and site preparation within the next 2 to 3 weeks and construction is scheduled to be completed six months after initial construction starts.

Established in 1933, Chas. Seligman is a wholesaler and distributor for Anheuser-Busch, Gambrinus Company, and Grupo-Modelo brand products. The company had over $57 million in sales in 2003 and distributed close to 4 million cases of product. Sales growth could increase to even higher levels, if rural Kentucky areas continue their trend of eliminating dry counties.
