Construction expected to be finished by summer 2016, and the plant is expecting to add 73 jobs, taking the employee count to more than 400. Briner Building Incorporated (Bluffton, Indiana) is serving as the general contractor. This will be the fourth expansion at the facility since it opened in 2003.
The FCC Indiana facility in Portland kicked off construction in June for a $15.5 million expansion. FCC Indiana adding 76,000 square feet to the west side of its existing, 300,000-square-foot facility. The company also will add a new, 800-ton press and sanding lines as part of the expansion. This investment is to create nearly 60 jobs at the plant, bringing the total employment at the facility to more than 800. Shimizu North America (Atlanta, Georgia), a subsidiary of Shimizu Corporation (Tokyo, Japan), is serving as general contractor. Construction is expected to wrap up by first-quarter 2016. The expansion follows a $16.4 million investment that went toward equipment additions in 2013.
