Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). So you want to build an Alternative Fuels plant, but cant see clearly which biofuel is going to come out on top in the end? Well, why not build both? The number of companies looking into that very concept is growing and it may not turn out to be a bad idea, as the industry continues to push forward. Biofuels complexes are being developed in a wide range of geographies across the country. Six of these biofuel complexes are currently being tracked in the U.S. by Industrial Info and can be found as far west as Oregon, to the north in Wisconsin, down south in Alabama and smack dab in the middle in Kansas.
Fish will be fed the distillers dried grains, a by-product of ethanol production, and offal from the fish processing operation will be fed back into the biodiesel plant making the facility a closed-loop operation. In all, a total of 70 million bushels of corn and other grains are expected to be processed at the plant annually.
Delta-T Corporation (Williamsburg, Virginia) will provide the process technology and engineering and local contractor C.R. Meyer and Sons Company (Oshkosh, Wisconsin) is the general contractor. Construction is expected to be complete by early 2008.
Millennium Company (Livingston, Alabama) is planning to construct a biofuels complex located in Epes, Alabama. The two-phase project first calls for the building of a 30 million-gallon per year biodiesel plant and about a year later, start construction on a 50 million-gallon per year ethanol plant. Construction on this estimated $100 million project is expected to begin early in the New Year.
Dial Energy, LLC (Omaha, Nebraska) is planning to build its biofuels complex in Dodge City, Kansas. This is also a two-phase project that will start with construction of a 100 million-gallon per year ethanol plant and by mid-2008, start construction on a 50 million-gallon per year biodiesel plant. Construction costs to build this complex are approximately $200 million.
Mean Green BioFuels Corporation (Alpharetta, Georgia) is looking at a smaller complex in Memphis, Tennessee. Plans here call for the creation of a 20 million-gallon per year biodiesel plant and a 5 million-gallon per year ethanol plant. Construction is scheduled to get underway around February or March of 2008.
Inland Pacific Energy Center, LLC (Nyssa, Oregon) is planning to build a biofuels complex in Stanfield, Oregon that will utilize grain and canola oil feedstocks to produce 40 million gallons per year of ethanol and 32 million gallons of biodiesel. Once the air permit is approved, construction on this $140 million project could start as early as April of 2007.
Patriotic Alternative Fuels, LLC (Douglasville, Georgia) recently announced plans to build a complex in the Helena Harbor in Helena, Arkansas. Plans for this complex include a 40 million-gallon per year ethanol plant and a 25 million-gallon per year biodiesel plant. Construction on this project is expected to start in June of 2007.
Jay Brunson, Industrial Infos Vice President of Alternative Fuels adds, Getting feedstock to these plants will be the crucial element for these biofuels complex type facilities to survive. Being located on a major waterway and sufficient rail and road infrastructure nearby is going to be a must for success.
Industrial Info's Ethanol Production Database provides a comprehensive outline of all current development activities in the emerging synthetic fuels market. This database covers 123 ethanol plants currently in operation and 290 plants under development. It also covers 32 operational biodiesel plants and 75 biodiesel plants under development.
