Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Zilkha Renewable Energy (Houston, Texas), with partner Kirmart Corporation (Wichita, Texas), is utilizing Vestas American Wind Technology Incorporated (Portland Oregon), the United States regional office for Vestas Wind Systems A/S (Ringkobing, Denmark), to expand Blue Canyon Windfarm in Comanche County, Oklahoma, near Medicine Park, from 74-megawatts (MW) to 225 MW.
NEG Micon merged with Vestas in 2004. Vestas will provide, install, and commission (84) of its V80 1.8-megawatt (MW) wind turbine/generators for the 151MW Blue Canyon Windfarm Phase II, which is scheduled to be completed in fall of 2005, bringing the total generation capacity to 225 MW. Blue Canyon was originally conceived as a 400 MW total capacity site, so with additional power purchases, there could be further phases to add 175 MW at a later date.
