China Sees 8.7% Drop in Mining Investments for January through November

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Mining investments in China for the first 11 months of 2015 were 8.7% lower than the same period of 2014, according to China's National Bureau of Statistics. The latest numbers included a 12.1% drop in private sector investments to $104.5 billion.

From January through November 2015, the total investments in coal mining and washing dropped to $58.05 billion, a decrease of 16.1% from the same period of last year; this includes private investments, which decreased to $32.62 billion, a drop of 15.3%. Total investments in extraction of petroleum and natural gas reached $45.63 billion, an increase of 0.8%; this includes the private investment amount of $3.92 billion, a drop of 21.2%. Total Investment in ore mining, smelting and pressing of ferrous metals totaled $20.6 billion, a drop of 19.9%; this includes the private investment amount of $17.92 billion, a drop of 22%. Total investment in ore mining, smelting and pressing of non-ferrous metal totaled $23.86 billion, a drop of 3.9%; this includes a 14.1% drop in private investments to $16.54 billion. Investments for processing non-metallic minerals reached $30.7 billion, an increase of 2.3%; this includes the private investment amount of $29.1 billion, an increase of 3.4%.

From January through November, China's overall investment in fixed assets (excluding rural households) reached $8.02 trillion, an increase of 10.2% from the same period last year. Private sector investments during this period increased 10.2% to $5,180.49 billion.

Investments in primary sector industries (agriculture, forestry, fishing, mining, oil and gas production) reached $226.21 billion, an increase of 28.7% from the same period of last year.

Investments in secondary sector industries (manufactured goods) reached $3.28 trillion, an increase of 8.1% from the same period of last year. This included investments of $3.22 trillion in the industrial sector, an increase of 8.1%; an 8.4% increase in manufacturing investments, totaling $2.65 trillion; and $384.71 billion in investments for the supply of power, heat, gas and water reached, an increase of 16%.

Investment in the tertiary sector (services) reached $4.51 trillion, an increase of 11% from the same period of last year. Infrastructure investments (excluding power) reached $1.44 trillion, an increase of 18.2% from the same period of last year. The investments in water resource management were was up 23.3%, and investments in public facilities management were up 20.5%.
