China's Value-Added of Chemical Production Rises 10.3% in November from Year Earlier

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Production of value-added chemicals in China rose 10.3% in November from the same month a year earlier, according to China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
Ethylene output fell 6.4% from November 2013. However, production of primary plastics rose 5%, synthetic rubber 10.7% and synthetic fiber 7.7%. Production of caustic soda rose 3.1%, but soda ash production fell 7.6%.
Total fertilizer production in November rose 1% from a year earlier, including a 6.6% increase in phosphate. However, nitrogen production fell 0.2% and potash production fell 7.2%.
Output of pesticides fell 7.9% in November, while production of rubber tires fell 2.1%. The output of calcium carbide rose 20.2%.
For January through November, production of value-added chemicals rose 10.5% from the same 11 months in 2013. Output of primary plastics increased 10.7% to 63.35 million tonnes; synthetic rubber increased 10.6% to 4.84 million tonnes, and synthetic fiber rose 7% to 36.76 million tonnes.
Ethylene production for January through November reached 15.78 million tonnes, an increase of 4.7% over the same 11 months in 2013. Caustic soda output reached 29.04 million tonnes, an increase of 8.5%; soda ash production increased 5.8% to 23.03 million tonnes.
Total fertilizer production for January through November totaled 64.01 million tonnes, a drop of 0.1%. This includes a 2.1% decrease in nitrogen, a 1.8% increase in phosphate, and an 11.8% increase in potash.
Rubber tire production during the first 11 months of 2014 rose 7% over the same period in 2013 to 1.02 billion units. Calcium carbide production rose 11.7% to 22.93 million tonnes.
In November, the average price of caustic soda was $346.77 per tonne, down 1.4% from October, and 18.9% from November 2013. The price of urea was $254.84 per tonne in November, a 1.3% reduction from October, and a 6.5% reduction from November 2013. The price of calcium carbide was $411.29 per tonne in November, down 1.2% from October, and 5.9% from November 2013.
The Chemical Processing Industry has reported a profit of $52.4 billion for January through October of 2014, up 5.3% from the same time in 2013. However, fertilizer profits have fallen 23.5% to $3.02 billion.
