The cornerstone laying ceremony for the Datang Anyang Power Plant 300 MW Cogeneration Unit Renovation Project was held at Anyang City in Central China’s Henan province on July 10, 2007. Deputy governor of Henan province, Zhang Dawei, and Vice President of China Datang Corporation (Beijing, China), Cai Zhefu, were among other leaders and representatives who attended the ceremony.

Datang Anyang Power Plant is the first demonstration project in carrying out the policy of “replacing small thermal power units with large units” in China. On December 31, 2006, two 100 MW units at the Datang Anyang Power Plant were shutdown. On January 22, 2007, the dismantling ceremony of the two units were jointly held by the People’s Government of Henan Province and China Datang Corporation at Datang Anyang Power Plant. Both units were removed by explosives. This represents the first step in China’s power industry in facing the challenge of energy saving and reduction in pollution emission.

The Datang Anyang Power Plant 300 MW Cogeneration Unit Renovation Project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on January 25, 2007. The project is jointly invested by China Datang Corporation and Anyang Economic and Technology Development Company (Henan, China). Central Southern China Electric Power Design Institute (Wuhan, China) is the designer of the project. Beijing Guodian Desheng Engineering Supervision Company (Beijing, China) will be responsible for the supervision of the project. The steam turbine and generator are being manufactured by Dongfang Electrical Corporation (Sichuan, China).
