Croatia's Sisak Refinery to Perform Maintenance Turnaround in 2011

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrija nafte's (Zagreb, Croatia) 60,000-barrel-per-day refinery (BBL/d) in Sisak, Croatia, will undergo maintenance on all of its processing units in the last quarter of 2011.

The oil refinery in Sisak is located 50 kilometers south of Zagreb, near Croatia's domestic oil fields.

In addition to domestic oil, the refinery processes imported raw materials that are supplied through the Adriatic oil pipeline from two directions--the Mediterranean and Russia. The local oil pipeline is used to transport oil and condensate from domestic oil fields in Moslavina, and the Sava River is used to transport oil from the Slavonian oil fields. The Sava River is a junction point to the Eastern markets. The Zagreb-Belgrade-Middle East transportation corridor to Western Europe is one of the advantages of the geographic positioning of this refinery.

The oil refinery in Sisak is a complex refinery with well-selected technology. It covers about 1 million square meters and includes modern installations for product shipment, inlcluding a river harbor and four docks.

The Sisak Refinery last had maintenance work in October 2008.

The refinery performs planned shutdowns in its processing units every three years. The 2011 turnaround will be carried out in units such as the 60,000-BBL/d crude distillation unit and the 60,000-BBL/d vacuum distillation unit. During the planned shutdown, routine cleaning and maintenance work will be carried out.
